Pfizer, Inc. was founded by Charles Pfizer and Charles Erhardt in Brooklyn, New York, 1849. They have made advancements that lead to mass production of penicillin during World War II and experienced a significant growth in new development since the 1980s. Pfizer, Inc. has a very broad focus in their research and development, allowing them to provide improvement in nearly all areas relating to human health.

Genotropin is a bioengineered human growth hormone launched by Pfizer, Inc. in 2000. Genotropin has been approved by the FDA for treatment of children with growth hormone deficiency, Prader-Willi syndrome, Turner syndrome (female only), and that were born small for gestational age. Genotropin is administered as an injection.

Somavert is a manufactured protein similar to human growth hormone launched by Pfizer, Inc. in 2003. Somavert has been approved by the FDA for treatment of acromegaly. Somavert is administered as an injection.


Pfizer Bridge Program, a patient assistance program provided by Pfizer, Inc., offers Genotropin at no cost for up to 30 days to those who are eligible for the program. Eligibility is based off of the following requirements:

  • You must be a citizen of the United States or its Territories.
  • You must not be covered by private or public health insurance.
  • You must have a diagnosis listed above.
  • You must meet an undisclosed income guideline.
