Summary
Memphis, Tennessee’s GTX Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on treating bone loss, osteoporosis, muscle wasting, and also targets hormone pathways in order to treat cancer. Their most prominent programs center around the investigation of small molecules that alter the effects of estrogen and androgen. GTX Inc. have teamed up with MERCK & Co. Inc. in a world-wide effort to create a selective androgen receptor modulator, known as S.A.R.M., which is geared toward treating muscle loss that has been caused due to the patient’s age.
Fareston is a drug aimed at treating breast cancer in women who have already gone through menopause. It is geared towards estrogen-dependent and unknown tumors, and was launched by GTX Inc. and is currently in October of 1995. Fareston has been approved by the FDA to treat first line metastatic breast cancer. Fareston is administered orally via a tablet.
Eligibility
GTX Inc., Patient Assistance Program is a patient assistance program provided by GTX Inc., offers a three month supply of Fareston at no cost to those who are eligible for the program. Eligibility is based off of the following requirements:
- You must not be covered by any private, public, or Medicare Part D prescription coverage programs.
- Your income must be less than or equal to 225% of the Federal Poverty Guideline for the size of your household (see chart below).
- You must be a citizen of the United States or its Territories
- You must have been enrolled in this program as of July 2006, or you are not eligible for refills or reapplication
The medication must be sent to the physicians office.
Those eligible for Medicare Part D but not enrolled may still be eligible.
