Gilead Sciences was founded in 1987 as Oligogen by Michael Riordan, before changing the name to Gilead Sciences in 1988. Gilead Sciences is a major biopharmaceutical company that researches, develops, and markets therapies for life threatening diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B, influenza, and pulmonary diseases. Gilead Sciences has worked with partners such as Glaxo and Pharmacia & Upjohn, along with acquiring NeXstar Pharmaceuticals, Raylo Chemicals, Inc., Corus Pharma, Inc., Myogen, Inc., and Triangle Pharmaceuticals. Gilead Sciences has gained fame through the politcal spectrum as Donal Rumsfeld was a board member of the company before joining President George W. Bush\'s cabinet as Secretary of Defense.
Eligibility
Gilead Advancing Access, a patient assistance program provided by Gilead Sciences, offers the medications listed to the right at no cost for up to 1 year to those who are eligible for the program. Eligibility is based off of the following requirements:
- You must be a citizen of the United States or its Territories.
- You must be uninsured or underinsured.
- You must be an outpatient currently under the care of a physician.
- You must meet an undisclosed income guideline.
The patient is sent a pharmacy card this is good for 1 year.
