Summary

Alpharma Pharmaceuticals was founded in 1975 as the Norwegian company A.L. Laboratories, Inc. (a subsidy of Apothekernes Laboratorium which was founded in 1903). A.L. Laboratories, Inc. changed their name to Alpharma, Inc. in 1994 as they entered a period of global expansion in the fields of human pharmaceutical and animal health care. Alpharma Pharmaceuticals focuses on developing active pharmaceutical ingredients and key products such as Bacitracin, Polymyxin B, Vancomycin, Amphotericin B, and Tobramycin which they sell to other pharmaceutical companies in over 60 countries. Alpharma Pharmaceuticals is considered to be one of the worlds largest producers of key active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Kadian is a sustained release morphine sulfate launched by Alpharma Pharmaceuticals in 2005. Kadian has been approved by the FDA for pain management. Kadian is administered in capsule form.

Eligibility

Kadian Patient Assistance Program, a patient assistance program provided by Alpharma Pharmaceuticals, offers Kadian for a $5 shipping fee to those who are eligible for the program. Eligibility is based off of the following requirements:

- You must be a citizen of the United States or its Territories.

- You must not be covered by any private, public, or Medicare Part D prescription coverage programs.

- Your income must be less than or equal to 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline for the size of your household (see chart below).

Those eligible for Medicare Part D but not enrolled may still be eligible.
