Posted May 28th, 2008 by Patient Assistance Team
BATON ROUGE, LA, 5/28/2008 - PatientAssistance.com, in a continuing effort to provide the uninsured and underinsured with health care and prescription drug assistance, announced today their support for the National Diabetes Goal (NDG) which aims to increase awareness and improve the management of Type 2 Diabetes to the 45% of Americans at risk, by the year 2015.
“Our reach within the uninsured population of America has allowed us to assist over 1.5 million Americans who where financially unable to meet their health care and prescription needs on their own,” said Rex Bowden Jr., of PatientAssistance.com. “By providing surveys and questionnaires to our members, we can increase awareness of the issue and provide an in depth analysis of the current social awareness of Type 2 Diabetes within the rising uninsured population of America.”
According to a Gallup® survey commissioned by Novo Nordisk's National Changing Diabetes Project (NCDP), over 90% of Americans realize the seriousness of Type 2 Diabetes. In an effort to convert America's awareness into a call to action, the National Diabetes Goal has issued the following three step plan of action:
Find out if you are at risk for type 2 diabetes
Ask about getting your blood glucose tested during your next doctor’s visit
Know your blood glucose level and what actions to take
Those at risk for or diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes can find financial assistance for their prescription medications through the over 15 available Patient Assistance Programs listed in the PatientAssistance.com comprehensive database. Programs include:
