Uses

This medication is used to treat symptoms of urinary tract (bladder) infections such as pain, burning, urinary urgency and frequency.

How To Use

Take this medication by mouth as directed usually with food or after meals. Take each dose with a full glass of water and drink plenty of fluids while taking this.

Side Effects

Stomach upset, headache, dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness or blurred vision may occur. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, unusual bruising, pale fingernails, unusual weakness, fever, mental confusion, skin rash. This medication causes urine to turn orange-red in color. Do not be alarmed. This effect is temporary and will disappear when the medication is stopped. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

Tell your doctor if you have: kidney problems, liver disease, stomach or intestinal disorders, glaucoma, any allergies. Because this medication may cause drowsiness or blurred vision, use caution driving or performing tasks requiring alertness. Avoid alcoholic beverages while using this medication, since alcohol may intensify the side effects of this medication. This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using this drug. This combination product contains a barbiturate. Barbiturates pass into breast milk which has resulted in producing undesirable effects on nursing infants. Using this drug while breast-feeding is not recommended.

Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you take, especially of: blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), sleeping pills. This drug may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Overdose

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include headache, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, dilated pupils, hot and dry skin, drowsiness, dizziness, difficulty swallowing, seizures, and loss of consciousness.

Notes

Do not share this medication with others.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Storage

Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
