Uses

This medication is for the short-term treatment of congestive heart failure (CHF).

How To Use

This medication is given by injection into a vein. You will be monitored closely by means of regular doctor visits and routine laboratory tests to ensure the effectiveness and safety of this medication.

Side Effects

This medication is generally well tolerated. Headache, chest pain and a slight fever have been reported as a result of this medication. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience: irregular heartbeat. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

Tell your doctor of any illnesses or allergies you have. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this medication is found in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Overdose

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe dizziness.

Notes

An oral form of this medication has been under study but does not show as great a benefit as does the injectable form.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Storage

Store as directed away from heat and light.
