PANCRELIPASE - ORAL ENTERIC COATED CAPSULE

Uses

This medication contains digestive enzymes which help digest and absorb foods. It is used to treat symptoms of pancreatitis or other various digestive disorders.

How To Use

This medication works best if taken with or after meals. Swallow the capsule whole. Do not crush or chew it. The capsule may also be opened, the contents sprinkled on a small amount of soft food (e.g., gelatin, applesauce) and the food swallowed immediately without chewing. Do not mix the contents of the capsule with alkaline foods such as milk or ice cream because the protective coating may dissolve prematurely. Antacids may hinder the effects of this medication. Do not take an antacid at the same time as this medication. Wait at least two hours between administration.

Side Effects

Generally this medication is very well tolerated and side effects are mild if they occur. Diarrhea, cramping or stomach upset may occur when starting treatment. If these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Although very unlikely to occur, notify your doctor if you develop: a skin rash, severe stomach distress. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: allergies (especially to pork). This medication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this medication appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Overdose

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Notes

Do not share this product with others.

Missed Dose

Take any missed dose as soon as possible but not if it is almost time for the next dose. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose.

Storage

Store at room temperature and keep away from moisture and heat. Do not store in the bathroom.
