COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Isopto Hyoscine

This medication is used to treat certain eye conditions (e.g., uveitis), or to dilate the pupils for eye examination or surgery.

How To Use

Follow directions for use exactly. Treatments and doses vary according to your medical condition or procedure. To apply eye drops, wash hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place dropper directly over eye and administer the prescribed number of drops (no more than 2). Look downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure for 2 to 3 minutes. This will prevent the medication from draining away from the eye. Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper. Replace cap after use. If you are using another kind of eye drop, wait at least five minutes before applying other medications. Administer eye drops before eye ointments, to allow the eye drops to enter the eye. Wash hands thoroughly after administering the drops, especially with use in children. Do not allow drops to enter the mouths of children.
