AMPHOTERICIN SUSPENSION - ORAL

Uses

This medication is to be used for the treatment of oral candidiasis, an oral fungal infection.

How To Use

Shake well before using. Use the marked dropper provided to drop 1 milliliter (ml) on the tongue four times daily between meals or as directed. Swish the medication in your mouth for at least one or two minutes before swallowing. This medication may also be applied by swabbing affected area with a non-absorbent swab. Follow your doctor's directions carefully. When using this method, leave the drug in the mouth as long as possible.

Side Effects

Stomach or intestinal problems including nausea, vomiting or diarrhea may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor. Very unlikely to occur but notify your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following: skin eruptions/rash, itching, swelling. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: other illnesses, kidney problems, allergies (especially drug allergies). Notify your doctor if symptoms worsen or the infection reoccurs. Amphotericin oral suspension should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this drug is excreted into breast milk. Using this drug while breast-feeding is not recommended. Consult your doctor.

Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist of all the other drugs you take (both prescription and nonprescription). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Overdose

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe nausea and vomiting.

Notes

Do not allow anyone else to use this medication.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Storage

Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Keep tightly closed. Do not store in the bathroom. Do not freeze.
